A lot of the people currently trying to legislate the kinds of sex other people are allowed to have claim to base their beliefs on a strict, literalist interpretation of the Bible. Which begs the question: have they read the thing? The Old Testament in particular is full of all sorts of fucked up shit that I doubt many of these people would be okay with: sex slavery, captive virgins, incest, the list goes on! OK, full disclosure: I’m addicted to “Big Love.” In fact, I’m about to watch the most recent episode, which I’ve DVRed and been holding out for all week. DON’T TELL ME WHAT HAPPENS.

I got to speak to Chyler today about her experience playing a sister-wife.
Had you read any books or seen any TV shows about polygamy before you took on the role?
I didn’t read the book [The 19th Wife] before I got the part. When I arrived in Canada [the movie was filmed in Calgary], I got an autographed copy from the author, David Ebershoff – he actually has a cameo in the movie! More
