Since she first started making music with Bikini Kill in 1991, Kathleen Hanna has been a beacon of feminist culture, showing everyone the explosive possibilities of combining art with politics. Now, to coincide with The Feminist Press’ release of The Riot Grrl Collection, a compendium of ‘zines, posters, and other memorabilia of the radical punk rock feminist movement, Hanna has partnered with fashion site VFILES to create a riot grrl themed capsule collection. Staying true to Hanna’s civic-minded roots, the proceeds will benefit the Girls Rock Camp Alliance, a non-profit organization whose mission is to “help girls build self-esteem and find their voices through unique programming that combines music education and performance, empowerment and social justice workshops, positive role models, and collaboration and leadership skill building.” Awesome!
