It’s raining in Los Angeles, and that means that all anyone is talking about, anywhere, is the weather. It’s the lead-in for news stories. It’s the only appropriate topic of conversation at cocktail parties, none of which are happening because of the rain. It’s the cause of car accidents, power outages and rampant fear.
