Don’t worry, it’s an investment piece. We’re sure you’ll get a lot of wear out of this $8,050 leopard, fringe, and crocodile-embossed faux leather dress. (You don’t get real leather for less than $10,000.) More
Even though NYFW is known for its outrageous street style bait techniques, the shows themselves are a pretty staid affair compared to Paris and Milan (especially, of course, the couture shows).
While it’s a consistent criticism of New York that homegrown designers don’t experiment enough, we saw some pretty valiant experimentation at the Spring 2014 shows–which occasionally resulted in balls out crazy, too.

It’s time, everyone. The 2013 Met Gala–or, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, if you’re nasty–is upon us. So, per usual, we’ll be updating live throughout the red carpet. Come back and refresh often–expect new looks here every few minutes!

You’ve probably noticed a proliferation of yeti arms in recent seasons… and, if the Fall 2012 runways are to be believed, they show no signs of slowing. However, one thing we noticed at the NYFW shows was the enormous variety of sleeves. Obviously, they’re going to be a staple for Fall (it’s chilly, after all) but they won’t be your garden variety arm covering: designers like Thakoon, Peter Som, and Rodarte showed unexpected proportions… while known minimalists like Nariso Rodriguez played around with surprising volume. “Dark and moody” go the unsurprising fall color trends at NYFW:Â covering the runways were muted shades of midnight, plum, and the reigning combination of black and blue. …But just when you thought it was all very bleak and Fall-appropriate… bright, fuck-off, electric reds came down the runway. Absolutely no one had his finger on this pulse better than Jason Wu, whose collection was almost exclusively shadowy shades of blue, wine and blinding red. Here are the colors to keep your eyes on for Fall 2012. More
