When I was a kid (i.e. 7th/8th grade), I began reading the Gossip Girl series. Like many young folks my age, I was intrigued by the idea of constant yacht parties, frequent sexcapades and spoiled teenagers who were somehow always able to obtain martinis despite being a mere 2 to 3 years older than I.
