Be Shallow, Awful And Adorbs With Our Bling Ring Shopping Guide

Be Shallow, Awful And Adorbs With Our Bling Ring Shopping Guide

Hey, betches! Sofia Coppola‘s The Bling Ring premieres at Cannes today! The film, which stars Emma Watson as the Worst, is based on a true story about a group of shallow people who robbed rich and famous shallow people. Zeitgeisty!

Anyway, guess what that means? Horrible early/mid ’00s fashion is back! Did you miss whiskered jeans? Louis Vuitton Murakami bags? Purse dogs? Ever-present Frappuccinos? Unapologetic venality? Paris Hilton being marginally relevant?

Hopefully you didn’t. But let’s take a stroll down the worst kind of memory lane with our carefully considered Bling Ring-inspired shopping guide. More »

Shopping Guide: Bold Striped Fashion On A Budget

Spring is here and everyone is sloughing off their Winter essentials (coats, scarves, leather everything). Although we’re currently super into those crazy acid-trip prints we fawned over last week, another way to transition into Spring is stripes. Yes, we got more than a little sick of stripes last year, but now we’re ready to do it all over again. We just can’t quit them.

Shopping Guide: Acid-Trippy Spring Prints On A Budget

Shopping Guide: Acid-Trippy Spring Prints On A Budget

A few weeks ago, we were walking by a nice boutique in our neighborhood and saw they were in the midst of a huge sale. We walked in and walked out with an amazing pair of trousers–a boyish, sensible cut in an insane print. They’ve been sitting in our closet since, slowly biding their time until the weather warms up.

This is a long way of saying that our hands down favorite warm weather trend will be acid-trip Spring prints–which is a wide category that includes florals and abstract doodles and all manner of bright colors, all of which look a little off… like they’re melting?

Anyway, it’s an awesome look that can easily be achieved for less than our $150 price cap. Just don’t go wearing more than one of these babies at once (unless you want to look like a damn fashion blogger).  More »

Shopping Guide: Sneaker Wedges You Can Buy Instead Of Those Horrible Daddy'$ Money Ones

Okay, allow us to come clean: we think sneaker wedges are horrible. Absolutely dreadful. We first saw them at NYFW a few years ago and thought, “Those won’t last more than a season.” Aaaaaaaaand, we were super fucking wrong. But we still hate them.

However, the recent release of Daddy’$ MoneySketcher’s take on sneaker wedges that sets women back more than a few decades–moved us to compile a shopping guide of alternatives. This way, no one has to support unbelievably sexist marketing/bad taste in the name of owning sporty horse hooves.

In a surprising twist, we found some of them kind of almost okay. More »

Pick Of The Week: Capes, For The Witchy October Woman In You

Pick Of The Week: Capes, For The Witchy October Woman In You

It has recently come to my attention that I love capes. It might be my love of retro fashions, my previously discussed latent Gothic tendencies, or the fact that it’s currently en vogue to dress like you know how to put spells on people, but I think the right cape can look pretty cool on anyone willing to take a small risk. Plus, it’s one of those rare trends that’s also functional…assuming your cape has arm holes, anyway. But which cape should you buy, and what should you wear it with? As easy as it would be to just say “all of them” and “everything,” here are 11 concrete suggestions to get the swooshy cape party started. More »

Friday Style Icon: Katharine Hepburn (And Her Best Quotes)

Friday Style Icon: Katharine Hepburn (And Her Best Quotes)

This week, we realized that all we want to do is be Katharine Hepburn’s character in Holiday, just back-flip-flopping all over the place, being amazing. We would, however, settle for being Katharine’s Hepburn’s character in any of her movies. Barring that, we would settle for being Katharine Hepburn. And if all that is impossible, we’d be willing to just dress like her. More »

I’ve been seeing a lot of really lovely floral-print flats lately (like this gorgeous $390 pair by Jil Sander) so I put together this gallery of affordable styles. Yes, one man’s affordable is another’s extravagance.
