Fashion Week has but two days left! We’ve seen a lot of the expected for Spring 2014–bright citrus colors, florals, white looks, unfortunate crop tops and more unfortunate peplums–and a little of the refreshing (trapeze tops! swing coats!). But, thankfully, anchoring so many of Spring collections are a whole lot of wonderful, colorful, wearable shoes.
And when we say wearable, we (mostly) mean it–designers are all about chunky sandals, flatforms and sweet boots for Spring. Here’s a smattering of some lovely shoes from NYFW… More
Thanksgiving is about two things: trying not to argue with your family and eating your face off. Sometimes those overlap!
Oh, Thanksgiving is also about pretty autumn colors like cranberry, pumpkin, wines and plums. Here, we have assembled a gallery of under $300 dresses (with a wide range of prices) that are nice enough for a formal dinner occasion but forgiving enough to account for that delicious third helping of stuffing. Please note that if you’re not embarrassed of your Thanksgiving potbelly, by all means buy a bodycon dress and own it.
For the rest of us–who go a little too overboard–here’s a handy guide to empire waists, generous cuts and shirt dresses with removable belts.
Here I am at the first day of NYFW in a rain coat with an umbrella… where it’s a sunny 76°F. No matter, thanks to Weather.com and its web of deceit, I’m in an appropriately gloomy (and sweaty!) mood to select some Fall jacket inspiration. More
Maybe I’m not a crazy handbag lady but, to me, a purse serves a practical purpose. It has to hold all the things I need on a daily basis, otherwise I’m stuck with a bag on one arm and a tote on the other. In this way, tiny bags, bags in delicate materials, bags without interior pockets, bags without multiple methods of handling seem like more trouble than they’re worth. Because of this, I’m a big fan of the practical, durable, roomy satchel style. And, since you can’t walk into a boutique without seeing a dozen PS1s in as many different sizes and colors, now’s the time. Here are some good choices at a multitude of price points. More
We have all ran into our exes spontaneously on the street, looking like hell, walking away kicking ourselves for not breaking out the six inch pumps to grab groceries. Here’s a gallery for what to wear if you’re actually planning … More
It’s starting to get sunny, but it’s still too chilly to just go with a tank or tee… to say nothing of those random New York rainstorms that seem to happen whenever is least convenient during the summer. So, to help your wardrobe on its transitional way, we’ve put together a nice round-up of cool, easy, lightweight jackets that’ll keep you dry (but not too warm) this Spring. More
Designers are always looking forward and back. This past NYFW, a few major (and oft-referenced) time periods seemed to dominate. The answer is after the jump. More
Now that we’ve come out of our NYFW haze and adequately re-hydrated, we’ve begun the project of sifting through hundreds of images from the runways and attempting to parse what will stick and what won’t for Fall 2011. That said, let me be frank with you: More
