Michelle Williams Shows Off Her Transformative Abilities In AnOther Magazine

Michelle Williams is a great actress, and part of being a great actress is being able to disappear into a role and not just look like “celebrity X” up there on the screen. For their Spring/Summer ’13 issue, the always artistic AnOther Magazine took advantage of that fact and styled Ms. Williams, who is interviewed within about playing Glinda the Good Witch in Oz the Great and Powerful, in eight very different looks, from club kid to retro glamour puss to…some sort of farmer? As expected, she looks great in all of them. (Especially the farmer one.) More »

Kim Kardashian Gets Styled By Nicola Formichetti, Still Looks Like A Kardashian In Elle

Just because Kim Kardashian is gestating a baby doesn’t mean she’s going to get fat or take any time off from the spotlight. For the March issue of Elle US, a lightly pregnant Kim Kardashian got all done up by none other than Nicola Formichetti, who is best known for being Lady Gaga‘s stylist. While some of the outfits he put her in were interesting, strangely constructed couture, he couldn’t resist including at least a couple of Kim’s more “iconic” looks in there. For her “Switcheroo” portraits, she has two (often quite different-looking) people switch outfits and positions with each other, often with humorous results. It’s also interesting how the people in the images can disappear into one another, showing the huge role clothing plays in how we perceive others. Here are some of my favorites. More »

Gallery: Lindsey Wixson And Daphne Groeneveld's Very New York Spread In W

W‘s August issue features a delightful photo spread in which teen models Lindsey Wixon and Daphne Groeneveld hang around various areas of New York City styled to blend in with their surroundings. Or rather, styled to match the image their surroundings are historically best known for. I’m a little disappointed there’s no Brownsville one, but the folks at W still did a fine job. Let’s take a look. More »

Video: How to Dress for the Most Important Day of Your Life

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve known what I wanted to do with my life: write. And, of course, one of my life goals was to write a book. I still haven’t accomplished many of the things on my bucket list – owning my own apartment, speaking fluent Hebrew, making out with Ryan Gosling – today marks the day I can cross a big, important one off the list. It’s the publication day for my book Save the Assistants. It’s also the night of my book release party. Picking out a venue was easy. But deciding what to wear? I’ve been a wreck. Enter Carrie Goldberg, a talented stylist who I happen to have met when she was my kick-ass intern at Jewcy.com (she’s now the Fashion Editor there). Carrie styles for celebrities, although this day with me was a bigger challege: I had no budget, and everything had to come out of my own closet. So here goes nothing. More »
