You know that incalculably uncomfortable feeling of when somebody begins to rub your shoulders who shouldn’t be? If not, good! If so, imagine that feeling occurring whenever anybody tries to touch you in a romantic or sexual way — even people you are attracted to, even people you want to sleep with, even people you have slept with before. Dating with post-traumatic stress disorder isn’t exactly simple, but lately, I have found a way that seems to work better than others for me at this moment: absence.
