The Spring 2014 bridal collections have shown and the big surprise is… more nontraditional wedding dresses. We see this pretty regularly (dove gray, pale pink, mint green and the like), but it’s still always a surprise how polarizing it is. We’re of the opinion that no woman should feel required to wear a long white dress (or, uh, get married, for that matter) but the sight of a nonwhite gown sends others into irrational frenzy.
So, for those of you interested in/horrified by nonwhite gowns or other variously nontraditional wedding dresses, here are the latest from the Spring runways, featuring Vera Wang, Marchesa, Monique Lhuillier and more. More
Remember, yesterday, when we were really happy about how good everyone looked at the Vanity Fair party for the TriBeCa Film Festival? How all the attendees looked so cool and understated and elegant? That was great!
Unfortunately, today’s Red Carpet Rundown brings you the exact goddamn opposite. Last’s night Hot Pink Party, thrown by the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, was a sad state of pinks (predictably), sequins, satin and general promness. More

Vera Wang is separating from her husband of 23 years. This has inspired a few unimaginative/overworked bloggers to ponder how that will affect the success of her wedding gown empire (our guess is “not at all”). This has also sparked rumors that Wang is dating 27-year-old Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek: she’s even reportedly invited him to live with her. More

I have to be honest: every time I plan to grow my hair out, I see a photo of Michelle Williams with her perfectly cute, pixie ‘do and I’m forced to run to the salon and have them snip it all away. To me she is a trendsetter who, despite a devastating loss, has perserved and come out on top. She is strength and courage personified. And for this generation of actors, Williams has not only solidified herself as a true talent, For this generation of actors, Williams has not only solidified herself as a talented actress, but a style icon. The 34th annual Kennedy Center Honors took place in DC last night, celebrating the nation’s best performers in music, film and theater. Here’s the red carpet. More
This week’s Friday Style Icon is pretty straight forward: Michelle Williams is a really talented actress and a fashion risk-taker with good taste. She wears a refined palette of metallics and neutrals, knows what looks good on her (she loves a fitted bodice and a full skirt) and sticks to her guns (she will wear all the lace dresses). She’s partial to Chanel, Balenciaga, and Erdem and her trademark look is a mix of ladylike, mod and nonchalant. Although sometimes she comes up short, for the most part Williams is a lovely presence on red carpets who makes unconventional, intelligent fashion decisions and occasionally just kills it (we all remember her yellow Vera Wang from the Oscars). Let’s see some of her hits. More
