The 2013 Met Gala took place last night and
it was all our worst fears realized interesting! While the theme–PUNK: Chaos to Couture–was largely ignored, it was still observed enough (and hilariously misunderstood) to slip up many attendees.
Since this isn’t a typical red carpet, our criteria for the Met Gala Best Dressed list is thus: in order to make the list, attendees had to (at least) allude to the theme while simultaneously looking like themselves. The best looks were a little off, or more than a little. More
I am displeased with the Met Gala’s “Punk: Chaos to Couture” theme, but I’m having a hard time pinpointing why. However, because I’m pretty sure I am not alone on this front, and because we have spotted other blogs putting up photos of Gary Oldman playing Sid Vicious without realizing that it’s Gary Oldman in costume, I think it is probably a good idea to examine why this theme is stupid.
Full disclosure: I do not know much about punk. More

We love them a lot. They are surprisingly versatile, incredibly easy to style–a solid color top and cool ankle boots, you say?–and they look so fresh. Which is to say, even if they seem dated in six months, we won’t care because we’ll still be wearing them. Here’s a bunch of good ones, starting at $24.80 and topping out around $400. More
For one woman, the perfect proposal involved Sex and the City. More
Because high fashion and sports go hand-in-hand, obviously. More
Vivienne Westwood showed her Fall 2012 collection in Paris on Saturday and Look 31 has the fashion press very curious: what do you call this thing? It’s not quite leggings, not quite a cardigan, with maybe a little romper and some tights thrown in? And pajamas? More
Last night saw the Costume Designers Guild Awards, with top honors going to Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Madonna‘s period film W.E., and Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, Part II. Famous attendees included Rooney Mara, Chloe Moretz, Kate Beckinsale, Amber Valetta and more. See what they wore ahead… More
