Raf Simons To Possibly Leave Jil Sander, May Be Planning A Move To YSL

On Sunday, the fashion press did one big Coke Zero spittake when news of Raf Simons moving to YSL spread across Twitter. The story traced back to  International Herald Tribune online style editor Jessica Michault, who had tweeted, ”Suzy Menkes breaks the news that Raf Simons is slated to take over the helm at Yves Saint Laurent,”effectively also breaking the news that Stefano Pilati was leaving YSL. Shopping Guide: The “New” Hi-Low Hemmed Dress

Shopping Guide: The "New" Hi-Low Hemmed Dress

Hi(gh)-low hemmed dresses–or mullet dresses as they are sometimes called–are usually associated with the obnoxious wedding dresses and prom gowns of the ’80s. But designers have now deconstructed the image of these bi-level beauties. They’ve added grungy, edgy touches for a more modern feel. The hi-low dress is the Billy Ray Cyrus of the fashion world, in the best way possible. More »

Friday Style Icon: Diane Kruger's Red Carpet Grand Slams

We love Diane Kruger. Maybe it’s because the Chanel runway is effectively her closet? Or that the former model is flawless looking? Regardless, Kruger allegedly doesn’t use a stylist and however she shows up–whether she’s working minimalism, intricate beading or retro silhouettes–she always looks memorable. Also, if this point hasn’t been made everywhere it should be: the woman’s makeup is always, always, always on point. Please enjoy the following gallery of amazing red carpet looks from Diane Kruger, today’s Friday Style Icon. More »

YSL VS Christian Louboutin: The Saga Continues As One Luxury Label Tries To Sue Another

Until then, here’s our umbrella guide to supplement. More »

See ‘Inspiration Dior,’ Christian Dior’s Sprawling Museum Exhibit

See 'Inspiration Dior,' Christian Dior's Sprawling Museum Exhibit

Tuesday night saw the opening of “Inspiration Dior,” a sprawling, ambitious new exhibit at Moscow’s Pushkin Museum, in which over 12o couture looks from the house’s history are shown alongside the very “paintings and photographs that have inspired its designers,” like Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano and the man himself. Artists shown include Cezanne, Toulouse-Lautrec, Man Ray, Gustav Klimt, and more. WWD was there, along with the almost-eerily-flawless Natalia Vodianova and everyone else of huge influence in the fashion industry (like Mr. Arnault, of course). Here are the photos. More »

Friday Style Icon: Cate Blanchett’s Greatest Red Carpet Moments

Friday Style Icon: Cate Blanchett's Greatest Red Carpet Moments

Cate Blanchett has class and good taste to spare. She’s talented and poised and taken very seriously. That said, she doesn’t play it safe on the red carpet (like a lot of respected actresses in her category) and she’s not afraid to look a little crazy. Most of the time, however, her risks pay off. And yes, I am taking about the extraordinary Givenchy Haute Couture dress she wore to the Oscars (deal with it, Jennifer). So this week, we’re taking a look at some of Cate Blanchett’s greatest red carpet successes. Whether elegant in a favorite like Armani, or stunning in Valentino, or unforgettable in McQueen, Blanchett always manages to keep it interesting. More »
