It’s Springtime! That means big changes to makeup routines: gone is the matte skin, the moody ’90s lip colors, the heavy mascara, the cat’s eyes. Instead, skin gets dewier, cheeks get highlighted, liner is going from black to electric blue and moss green and lips are getting real, real bold.
This is the second of a few Spring beauty features we’ve got planned for May–the first is here. Right now we’re focusing on that tried and true warm weather character: the statement-y Spring lip.
Spring 2013 runways from Jason Wu to Prada (that’s Kati Nescher on the Prada runway up there) showed a variety of bold lips in shades from saturated pinks to electric corals and bright reds. Don’t be afraid, though! While bold lipsticks can be intimidating, a minimal, fresh face and a bright lip is easy to wear and really flattering.
We have been testing LOTS of lipsticks and stains these past few weeks and ahead you’ll find some of our favorites from NARS, Tarte, MAC, Hourglass, Make Up For Ever, Tom Ford and more… More
Well, good news, men wearing make-up is no longer taboo! At least according to The Daily Beast. More
Rather than looking cute and doll-like, as freckles are often associated with, you will look like your face was bizarrely stained by lumpy, uneven mud. Actually, playing in the mud is quite youthful, so perhaps there is some truth behind this technique! More
Apparently, women lose about $400 worth of products each year. The easiest way to combat that: getting some sweet makeup cases to prevent this loss. Lots of them are quite ugly and boring, though, so we have found several that you might just love. Hopefully, this will make you more likely to actually use an organizer, but at the very least, they’ll be adorable accessories for your room! More
Last week, we brought you the fun, grungy, hot makeup of the early nineties. Today, we are bringing something much, much worse to the table: multiple ugly trends from the 90s.
I’m talking Pamela Anderson lipliner, Baby Spice hair, metallic frosted shadow up to harsh-lined brows, unknowingly bad foundation lines, too much stick liner, so much bronzer and much, much more. Trying to figure out how to look like the worst version of your middle school self? Here it is, guys. There will be blood. Or, at the very least, glitter.
Internet, please don’t bring these back up when I run for city council, mmk? More
Like thousands upon thousands of other people, I have been wearing Ruby Woo by MAC for several years. I have worn it to parties, to school, to work, to interviews, to sets, to the gym (yes, I am one of those people who wears makeup to the gym, and I know — blah blah what’s the point blah blah).
I love wearing red lipstick out, but I have always been somewhat cautious of doing so when out with somebody. You know, romantically. Red lipstick on a first date feels weird. More

This is the first of a few Spring beauty features we’ve got planned for May–first, we’re focusing on the face. So, parsing last night’s Met Gala red carpet was pretty challenging–thankfully, the beauty looks were a little more cut and dry. While you can also go admire the great hair and makeup of attendees like Anna Hathaway, Rooney Mara and Hailee Steinfeld, below you’ll find our picks for the worst Met Gala beauty. :( More

Turkey’s national airline has forbid its flight attendants from wearing red lipstick and nail polish while at work. Apparently, the proper color of cosmetics for these women is now “pastel.” More
I guess it was only a matter of time until those lying liars at Lancome were going to be held accountable for their lies. Specifically, by one Orthodox Jewish woman who was really counting on Lancome’s “lasting perfection” make-up to get her through the Sabbath. More
