It’s Springtime! That means big changes to makeup routines: gone is the matte skin, the moody ’90s lip colors, the heavy mascara, the cat’s eyes. Instead, skin gets dewier, cheeks get highlighted, liner is going from black to electric blue and moss green and lips are getting real, real bold.
This is the second of a few Spring beauty features we’ve got planned for May–the first is here. Right now we’re focusing on that tried and true warm weather character: the statement-y Spring lip.
Spring 2013 runways from Jason Wu to Prada (that’s Kati Nescher on the Prada runway up there) showed a variety of bold lips in shades from saturated pinks to electric corals and bright reds. Don’t be afraid, though! While bold lipsticks can be intimidating, a minimal, fresh face and a bright lip is easy to wear and really flattering.
We have been testing LOTS of lipsticks and stains these past few weeks and ahead you’ll find some of our favorites from NARS, Tarte, MAC, Hourglass, Make Up For Ever, Tom Ford and more… More

What is the purpose of Photoshop?
If you’d asked me that question a few weeks ago, I know exactly how I would have answered: Fashion magazines use Photoshop to make people thinner, to airbrush skin imperfections, to make eyes bigger and teeth whiter. They use Photoshop to create an unrealistic standard of beauty that we can never attain and to assert “this is what perfect is and anything less than this isn’t worth looking at.” More

Robyn Lawley–she of the Italian Vogue covers, watershed Ralph Lauren campaigns and general goodness and decency–stopped by the 2013 American Ballet Theatre Opening Night Spring Gala last night and looked stunning in a strapless beige cocktail dress and matching ankle boots. Please admire how amazing she looks.
…Of course, we were supposed to make the headline “Plus Size Model Robyn Lawley Something Something” but we couldn’t do it without at least quotation marks.

Today, the New York Times published an absolutely beautiful op-ed by Angelina Jolie regarding her private, recent decision to have a preventative double mastectomy. Believe us, it’s worth a read. More
A minor uproar has arisen over the latest cover of T, The New York Times‘ style magazine. Apparently, it has offended the delicate sensibilities of NYT readers from Westport to Park Slope because it features a thin, young-looking model wearing vaguely bondage-inspired things. That’s right: they are mad at a fashion magazine for printing photos of a fashion model. Who is wearing fashion. More
