Plastic outerwear is officially a trend for spring 2014 and I, for one, am appalled. And I’m not just talking about raincoats. Raincoats are supposed to be plastic. No, I’m talking about regular looking, should-never-be-plastic coats and jackets. *Shudder* The … More
Fashion Month is drawing to a close, which means we’ve seen plenty of trends, much ridiculous street style, lots of famous people–you know, the usual Fashion Month works. By now we’ve had enough time to sift through the thousands of photos to bring you a selection of some very amazing (but often completely crazy) jewelry as seen on the runways in New York, London, Milan and Paris. Here are the biggest and boldest necklaces, bracelets, cuffs and, uh, headgear from Fashion Month–”statement jewelry” is putting it lightly. More
Milan Fashion Week is drawing to a close–which means the next round of Spring 2014 collections are around the corner in Paris. Here’s what the industry–Anna Wintour, Anna Dello Russo, Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle Alt–wore, along with the front row’s fanciest–Cate Blanchett, Freida Pinto, Blake Lively, Amber Heard–and even a few supermodels (Kate Moss, Karolina Kurkova, Bianca Balti). Ahead, see Anna Wintour, Victoria Beckham, Sienna Miller, Alexa Chung, some top models, one punk legend and more–here’s what the rich, famous and occasionally fashionable wore to yesterday’s shows… More
London Fashion Week is in full swing and its superstar designers–Burberry! Preen! Erdem! Chris Kane!–are pumping out runways full with kaleidoscopic prints, liquid fabrics and plenty of eye-catching accessories. Here are a few that grabbed us from the first days of LFW, including shoes, hats, sunglasses, bags and jewelry that must be seen to be believed! More
Even though NYFW is known for its outrageous street style bait techniques, the shows themselves are a pretty staid affair compared to Paris and Milan (especially, of course, the couture shows).
While it’s a consistent criticism of New York that homegrown designers don’t experiment enough, we saw some pretty valiant experimentation at the Spring 2014 shows–which occasionally resulted in balls out crazy, too.
Don’t believe us? Here’s what we mean… More
Alice + Olivia is known for its beautiful, lighthearted nature. Stacey Bendet‘s collections are always fresh, always fun and always pretty — and have perfectly coordinated beauty looks to accompany the clothes. Earlier this week, I went backstage at its show to check out the hair and makeup looks so I could share them with all you wonderful Glossers!
PLUS: Lots of gorgeous backstage pics! More
Here at The Gloss, we tend to shy away from the too-common bullying language of many fashion publications–5 Designer Items You Need Right Now! 5 Bags Everyone Will Have!, etc–because it’s unrealistic and obnoxious (no one needs a designer anything, for one).
However, for those of you who like following fashion but feel no obligation to spend a month’s rent on a damn handbag, one very easy way to translate the runway to your regular old wardrobe is with color. By incorporating the season’s biggest shades–whether through recycling stuff you already have or buying something new–you’ll achieve roughly the same effect as wearing trendy, eye-catching (and super expensive) runway pieces. Next Spring, these are the colors you’ll be seeing. More
Ahead, see Anna Wintour, Katie Holmes, Julienne Moore, Nicki Minaj, Tyra Banks and a whole bunch of models. Here’s what the rich, famous and occasionally fashionable wore to yesterday’s shows… More
When models are doing three, four, even five shows per day, how do you rescue their hair? Hair genius Nick Irwin gave us the inside scoop, and renowned makeup artist Gucci Westman filled us in on this gorgeous makeup look that you can wear today, tonight and for work on Monday! More
Typically, I have little sympathy for men, especially when it comes to clothing and shoes. I mean, they don’t have to deal with the nonsense that I have to deal with as a femme lady, but I pity the fools … More

Now that Memorial Day is here, you can break out your whites. Or have you been wearing them already all year? More
This morning involved some prancing around in my new bathing suit. Although I did so in my apartment so as to spare the world from my winter-pale skin and my fancy foot-work thanks to my wool socks I usually don’t put away until August, all while cursing the cold weather, there was still much prancing to be had.
